EMBODIED PLACE: Observations & Notations Exhibition


From Jan. 26-Feb. 27, 2015 the Tahoe and Garage Door Galleries will host Embodied Place: Observations & Notations, a group exhibition juried by Amy Franceschini and Russell Dudley. First Open Space Artist Talk with Maria Calandra

Last week, we were lucky enough to host artist and blogger, Maria Calandra at SNC and in Reno for a simultaneous show of her drawings and conversations about her work. Calandra’s visit launched the MFA-IA’s first talk of the Open Space Series. Her Reno talk was hosted by Cuddleworks, an artist-run studio space along Reno’s 4th Street Corridor. Cuddleworks provided a generous and warm setting for Maria’s informal talk, and was a welcoming introduction to the art community of Reno.

Prometheus Tree

I have just returned from Wheeler Peak and Jeff Weiss’s Prometheus Tree dedication, “Remembrance 2.”  The drive across Nevada on 50 to Ely and the rendezvous with Jeff’s “Me and My Friends” at Ely’s Hotel Nevada and Gambling Hall was full of tracings– the Great Basin’s complex usage issues.
