MFA-IA Visiting Artists Lecture: Steve Lambert
5 – 8pm | Holman Arts & Media Center, Garage Door Gallery
Steve Lambert will discuss The Co-op Bar, his current exhibition in the Garage Door Gallery, followed by food and refreshments.
The Co-op Bar & Café will create a community space for students and harness money for their projects in the form of a co-operatively owned bar. Designed to take advantage of the geography of SNC, the Co-op profits from easy access to snacks, coffee and alcohol. Investors can contribute food and bottles of liquor to be sold at the co-op. As a patron, you can purchase food, have a drink at the end of the day, and hang out with friends. At the same time you’re putting money back into the local arts community in Tahoe. At the end of the show, investors receive a portion of the profits and the rest will be made available to students for collective projects.
Steve Lambert dropped out of high school to study sociology and film, receiving his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and MFA from UC Davis. He was a Senior Fellow at the Eyebeam Center for Art and Technology in New York, and is currently a professor at SUNY Purchase in New Media. Steve is the co-founder and co-director of the Center for Artistic Activism and has collaborated with artists including the Graffiti Research Lab and the Yes Men.
